The London Business Awards encompass a number of categories to recognise the accomplishments of both companies and key individuals in London’s business community over the past 12 months.

Five companies or individuals will be shortlisted per public award category, judged by a panel of trusted business leaders and influencers with a shared passion for London. Finalists will be invited to the awards ceremony on the 5 March 2020, where the winners will be announced.

The awards are open to all London-based businesses, within the set eligibility criteria. The deadline for entries is at midnight on Friday 29 November 2019.

01 One to watch

The ‘One to Watch’ Award recognises the ‘rising star’ of the London ecosystem. They are praised for their recent achievement, fast growth and predicted future success.

This business must be in their infancy, less than two years old.

Please consider:

  • Their unique business offering, and how they stand out in the market
  • How much traction their business has had to date
  • The potential of this business to expand, on a global scale.

    The Paying It Forward Award celebrates an individual who constantly gives back and helps others within the London business network. They pave the way to enable those around them to succeed.

    03 Impact award - Health

    This award category recognises businesses that are driving improvement in health and medical care by increasing the affordability of, and access to, healthcare services on a local, national or international level.

    Additionally, this award recognises an organisation who is bringing about behavioural change through education of healthy living practices and promoting wellness and self-care.

    Please consider:

    • Which aspect of healthcare this company is tackling
    • How they are making a positive impact on the healthcare system and way we access healthcare
    • Clear and strong quantitative and qualitative evidence of their impact

        This business is making it easier to be economically friendly with new technologies to help change attitudes and behaviours; areas including sustainable energy, reducing emissions, limiting consumption and climate change.

          06 Disruptor of the year

          The Disruptor of the Year award recognises the achievements of an innovative market leader whose product or service is shaking up the industry. With the use of ground-breaking technology and innovation, the Disruptor of the Year is setting the standard for its customers and competitors.

            07 Scaleup of the year

            This award is for a scaleup company that has increased revenue, experienced significant growth creating new jobs, and secured funding. The Scaleup of the Year has expanded internationally over the past 12 months, having graduated from the Mayor’s International Business Programme between June 2018 and March 2019 (cohorts 9 to 12).  We will be in touch with eligible companies directly.

            Criteria will be based on:

            • How much investment they have received (£1m to date)
            • 20% sustained growth Y-o-Y
            • Strategy for further international expansion
            • Evidence of collaborations and partnerships
            • Investment in strong management team (both local and internationally).

            08 Startup of the year

            This award is for a new startup that has translated an idea into a successful business and is primed to achieve major growth in the years ahead. They employ a minimum of 3 people in London and are gaining traction to begin scaling their business over the next year. This award is open to all companies graduated from the Business Growth Programme.

            09 Best London Newcomer

            This award recognises an international company that has landed in London from March 2019, that can demonstrate an impact into London in terms of jobs created and impact to the London business ecosystem.

            Criteria will be based on:

            • Jobs created in the last 12 months
            • GVA* created in London in the last 12 months.

            10 Business Tourism Awards

            These awards champion innovation in tourism and inspire business excellence.

            Category winners will automatically feed into the VisitEngland Awards for Excellence 2020 for the chance to be recognised as a national winner.

            Who can enter?

            The London Business Awards are open to any London-based business or individual.

            Entry deadline

            The deadline for entering the awards is 23.59 on Friday 29 November

            Judging process

            Judging takes place in November 2019, with five shortlisted companies or individuals selected in each of our categories. The shortlist will be announced in January 2020, with winners announced at the awards ceremony on 5 March 2020.

            Can I enter in more than one category?

            Yes, you can enter as many categories as you wish.

            What is GVA?

            Gross value added (GVA) is the economic added value created when producing goods or providing services. It is the difference between the price paid for a good or service and the cost of inputs used in its production.

            GVA measures profits and wages of London-based businesses and London’s employees. By measuring our impact on increasing GVA, we are reporting our economic contribution to London.

            Can I enter myself or do I have to be nominated by someone else?

            You can enter yourself and be nominated by someone else. Shortlisted companies will be followed up with to provide more information or evidence.

            Can I share the news of my shortlisting on social media and PR channels?

            Yes! All shortlisted companies and individuals will be provided with a toolkit to shout about their success.

            Will I know if I have won before the awards date?

            No, winners will be announced at the awards night on 5th March 2020.

            • You may enter or be nominated for multiple categories without limit.
            • All entries as well as supporting documents must be submitted online.
            • Award entrants and nominated companies must have a London registered office at the time of entering.
            • The comments made on your application form should be accurate to the best of your knowledge.
            • The judges’ decision is final, no correspondence will be entered into regarding award winners.
            • Shortlisted companies will need to submit a short video to support their entry.
            • By entering the awards, you agree to partake in publicity of the awards, including the use of any images taken. London & Partners reserves the right to transmit any images taken (all or in part) or use them in any way it thinks fit without the permission of the entrant or payment for such use.
            • Entries will only be accepted on the official entry form.
            • The closing date for all entries is Friday 29th November at 23:59 GMT.
            • We reserve the right to extend the entry deadline.
            • Shortlisted companies and individuals will be expected to attend the awards evening on 5th March 2020.
